HERNDON, VA - August 26, 2014 - ePlus inc. (NASDAQ NGS:
PLUS -
news) today announced that its subsidiary, ePlus Technology, inc., has deployed an integrated collaboration solution for Surry County Public Schools (SCPS). The Cisco solution includes Unified Communications, e911 capabilities, and custom paging and emergency broadcasting-putting leading-edge technology in place throughout the school system.
SCPS is located in a rural county and needed to address physical security needs as well as replace an outdated phone system, which had become cumbersome and expensive to manage.
ePlus assisted SCPS with its entry to Cisco's Extreme Collaboration Makeover contest. SCPS was the grand prize winner of a Cisco BE6000 deployment. After an assessment of the school system's needs, the scope of the project expanded to include a full Unified Communications rollout. The district selected ePlus for this engagement based on its comfort and trust in ePlus' engineering team and its Cisco credentials, including Cisco Master Collaboration Partner.
"By working with ePlus, we've been able to revolutionize the way our team communicates between schools, within a school, within a classroom, and with parents," said Lloyd Hamlin, superintendent of SCPS. "We are proud to put leading-edge technology into the hands of our administrators, teachers, staff, and students through one, integrated, and cost-effective collaboration solution."
"We're pleased to help SCPS stretch its budget and resources to greatly enhance collaboration" said Mark Marron, COO of ePlus inc. "The district for the first time can provide voicemail and instant messaging for every teacher, in addition to video capabilities for select team members. This has resulted in improved communication, stakeholder satisfaction, staff productivity, and responsiveness."
ePlus designed and implemented a complete Cisco collaboration solution for SCPS, based on Cisco's BE6000 platform, including phones, Unity, e911 capabilities, custom paging/emergency broadcasting, and Unified Communications server (including Jabber/Unified Presence). The project included one year of support, coordination with county utilities and the primary service provider, and custom training for all teaching staff.
