Business Challenges
Challenge 1
The customer was running multiple workloads in a single region of AWS without disaster recovery (DR) capabilities. This prevented them from effectively reacting to a planned or unplanned event in the production region.

Why ePlus?
- Status as an AWS APN Advanced Partner with a proven methodology of assisting large and complex organizations implement and operate Disaster Recovery on AWS
- Ability to execute and create recovery-specific automation that would greatly aid in the recovery effort in the event of failover
- Ability to bring security and governance architecture and deployment by default to meet the needs of the regulated data environments
Solution
- ePlus engaged with the customer to review and configure an AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS) environment. This included architectural and security components.
- ePlus created automation that could be inserted into code pipelines that would monitor the health of the replication as well as aid in the recovery of multiple AWS services in the event of failure.
- ePlus assisted with runbook creation and custom integration to further aid both recovery drills and failover events.
Business Outcomes
- Business continuity was enhanced as the organization was able to take advantage of its existing investment in AWS and successfully operationalize disaster recovery for the workloads in scope. Validation and testing of the workloads and integrated services were performed.
- The organization was able to lower costs due to proper sizing of storage volumes, point in time snapshot scheduling, and replication server architecture optimization.
- Runbooks were turned and created, resulting in operational enhancements and skillset enablement. Reusable templates can be used for future applications that require disaster recovery—saving precious resource time and effort.
